Where should we stay?

We recommend staying in downtown Brooklyn, where there is a good selection of hotels. We have room blocks at three hotels in this neighborhood. The area around the Brooklyn Botanic Garden is mostly residential — and where we live! Beware of Airbnbs. New York City recently imposed some very strict rules around permits and capacity.

What is the dress code?

Cocktail attire or your Sunday best, as they say where we come from. Wear your dancing shoes!

Will there be childcare?

We are happy to help set up childcare for you. We’re working with our friends who have kids in the city to find vetted babysitters. Just let us know what your needs are. We love you and your kids, and it was hard decision to make our wedding adults only.

Will the ceremony be outside?

Weather permitting, the ceremony will be under the cherry blossom trees, and the cocktail hour will be on the patio. Both areas are paved, though some chairs may be placed in the grass for the ceremony. Dinner and dancing are inside in the atrium. If the weather is inclement, everything will take place indoors.

What will the weather be like?

We have our fingers crossed that temperatures will be mild and the skies will be clear. New York City in April can be unpredictable but expect highs in the 60s.

What’s the best way to get to the Brooklyn Botanic Garden?

Please use the 990 Washington Avenue entrance. The Brooklyn Half Marathon will be taking place on the same day so travel earlier in the day may be difficult, so we recommend planning ahead.

By car: The hotel can help hail a taxi, or you can use Uber/Lyft, which will take about 20 minutes and cost about $25.

By subway: Take the 2/3 about 20 minutes to the Eastern Parkway-Brooklyn Museum exit. It’s about a six minute walk from there to 990 Washington Avenue. Train fare is $2.90. Check Google or Apple Maps for service updates.

Can we visit the Brooklyn Botanic Garden before the wedding?

Yes! The wedding starts once the garden closes to the public, but you can visit leading up to the wedding. Let us know if you want help arranging tickets.

What’s the best way to get around New York City?

Subways and buses are great for those of us who are prone to getting car sick. Check Google Maps or Apple Maps for the latest service updates. Ubers and Lyft have robust service in Brooklyn and Manhattan, as well.

What else should we do in Brooklyn?

So much! The Brooklyn Museum and Prospect Park are in close walking distance to the Brooklyn Botanic Garden. There is also the Brooklyn Children’s Museum not too far away. We love taking family and friends to the Brooklyn Heights Promenade, where you can get a great view of the city skyline. Ask us for any and all recommendations.

In case we haven’t said it enough … we are so excited to celebrate with you!
